Monday
Actual, not Artificial (insurance) Intelligence
In a time in history where marine insurance is the ‘wild west’, learn how to differentiate between ‘coverage’ and the ‘smoke screens’. Do you understand the connection between the contracts you sign as a boat owner and the insurance terms, conditions, limitations, exclusions and warrantees? Insurance gets a bad rap because it is expected to ‘be your friend’, ‘be a good neighbor’ and put you ‘in good hands’. Let’s uncover all the myths and mysteries about insurance and put a flashlight on your rights, responsibilities, and reliable options for insurance. As AMG Insurance International believes in President Truman’s claim that you can ‘accomplish anything if you don’t mind who gets the credit’, you may find the best referrals come from this informative session. This session is a call to be an informed boat owner – to understand what is under the kilt!
Tuesday
Back by Popular Demand – REDUNDANCY – and RELIABILITY!
As Robin Williams said, “In the dictionary under redundant it says ‘see redundant’” … though AMG is reluctant to return to speak again about the FINE PRINT in contracts, it is a necessary evil. In this session, we’ll give you the cliff notes related to contracts you’ll sign as a boat owner once again. Are you under contract to build a boat? Let’s talk about how the build contract works, how surveys work in your favor, how a standard ‘yacht as cargo’ contract works if you are shipping your boat and if you’re not shipping it but moving it under it’s own power, how a Captain/Crew contract should work. We’ll review typical marina and boatyard contracts including for dockage, storage, refit and repair (including DIY). You might want to understand how a yacht broker/boat dealer contract can impact your cost and your representation. We know you’re not worried about getting rescued or needing a tow but do you understand towing, salvage and wreck removal contracts? Perhaps you are just concerned about how insurance contracts work … though we’ll certainly cover this topic Monday-Thursday between 4-5:00, this session will at least shine a flashlight on the contractual issues with marine insurance.

Wednesday
Insurance OPTIONS in a nutshell
This is the only place where you’ll get all the behind-the-scenes information about all the players, good * bad * indifferent … learn how to design your navigation plans to optimize the market coverage and pricing. Come drink from a firehose and leave with an understanding of how a new boat owner can plan for the best success with insurance, how an experienced owner can choose the best coverage and where to find it – and how to optimize insurance if you have had a claim. Witness history in the making as AMG Insurance highlights the best competitors and lets you in on all the secrets to knowing how to play your cards, when to play them and when to fold. If you have had a claim that left you feeling like insurance did not honor your rights, come to this session as we’ll also focus on the rights and responsibilities of the insurer and the boat owner – including if/when a claim is denied. Do you need a Captain – or would a Captain’s license help your own insurance rates if you obtained a Captain’s license yourself? What about Pirates? Is piracy insurance even covered?
Thursday
Survey Says!
In this packed session, we’ll discuss issues in the survey including how to choose a surveyor, how often you need a survey, how to maintain records between surveys and what your requirements are related to recommendations from the surveyor. We’ll talk about traps in insurance related to fire extinguisher certification/inspection/tagging and how to plan adequately so you don’t get caught in these. Own a sailboat? We’ll discuss the impact of formal rigging inspections. What about the ‘hot’ topic of lithium? Though you can learn SO much about lithium chemistry, installation and maintenance in other seminars, this is where you’ll learn about the ultimate financial impact of lithium if you have a claim … and how to go about lithium the right way. Do you need to have a hauled survey? How often? Do you need to have a sea trial? What kind of records need to be kept/disclosed related to the engine? What items are articulated in a survey that may help you with DISCOUNTS on your insurance? Should you be at the survey – and if so, how does it benefit you?
